We decided to have a stall at the popular Thornton le Dale Show this year for the first time, mainly to promote woodturning and our club, but also to offer another sales opportunity for members.
Keith was kind enough to provide gazebos, tables, demonstration lathe, TV screen and items for display. A tremendous effort, and well worth it judging by the interest shown on the day.
The demonstration lathe attracted many viewers, with a handful of different club members taking turns at producing small demo pieces.
Inside the two gazebos, we had shelves and tables with some fine pieces of woodturning, attracting much interest and praise. Many thanks to Brian, Gordon, Keith and John for these show pieces. (Apologies if I have missed anyone.)
A number of club members gave of their time, and paid the £10 entry fee to the show, to help things run smoothly during the day. Many thanks to Brian, Christine and Malcolm as well.
Keith Harte demonstrating on his small but powerful lathe, behind a safety screen. A young audience - perhaps the club members of the future?
Phil was one of the club members who volunteered to do an hour demonstration session, along with Gordon Malan, Keith Harte, Steve Fearnley and John Whiteley (I think Gordon did 2 sessions). There was good interest throughout the day.
Richard is a Thornton le Dale local, and helped out for much of the day, from setting up at 8 in the morning to clearing away at 6 in the evening. He also entered some pieces in the woodturning classes (he won 1st prize last year).
