Snainton Village Hall
A handful of demonstrations of different techniques, with encouragement to members to try for themselves: hollowing, sharpening, pen turning, bowl turning, and pyrography. Not many photos - I was demonstrating pyrography most of the evening, and Gordon, who normally takes numerous photos, was not present. We all wish him well with his recovery.
Steve Cooper
Steve brought along a dedicated buffing wheel motor he has, and a small lathe ideal for pen turning and small treen.
Lance Garrard
Lance set up the recently acquired Coronet lathe with some bowl turning blanks, hoping club members would have a go - which they did.
Coronet Lathe
Another angle on the Coronet Herald lathe in use. This really is a good mid-range lathe which can cope with most small to medium scale turning. It has been used at a number of club training days already this year.
Ian Temple
Ian brought along his Sorby Pro-Edge belt sharpener for people to have a go at an alternative way to sharpen. Very quick and easy to set reliable angles over and over again. Also here is a CBN sharpener (cubic boron nitrite) which John Whiteley brought along.
John Whiteley
John brought along a large piece of wood, and some large hollowing tools to tackle it. As well as demonstrating I did actually see some people having a go in the true spirit of "hands on".
Pyrography
Steve Fearnley demonstrated pyrography techniques, with the addition of Proxxon carving and Jo Sonja paints for outside work - more durable. Also the finished pieces from his January finials demonstration.
Wood sale
Richard King inspecting some turning blanks for sale at £5 each, with half the profits going to Yorkshire Air Ambulance (£20), and the other half to club funds. There are more turning blanks on their way in future meetings.
