2018 Christmas Party

Thursday 6 December 2018

The annual Christmas party this year saw a hot buffet and a variety of puddings on offer to guests, all beautifully done and very enjoyable. Many thanks to the caterers - I believe Bertie and Keith Harte, Christine Addley and others were heavily involved.

Thanks also to Keith for the picture quizzes, and John for the wood identification quiz. For those who didn't get them all, it included ash, oak, walnut, bay, yew, olive, burr elm, amarillo, purple heart, padauk, bubinga, spalted beech, pear, sycamore, zebrano, jarrah, holly, myrtle, satinwood, red mallee, jigidee, bog oak, zircote, cowrie, salmon gum, laburnum and sassafras.

Club competition

The competition saw a good number of entries, with the usual wide variety of subjects and the usual high quality.

The winners were:
Beginners – Robert Turner (aptly named!). 4 bowls
Intermediate 1st and 3rd Lance Gerrard, sphere and glossy bowl, 2nd Wes - forkandles
Expert 1 Keith Harte - chess set,
2nd and 3rd Gordon Malan, spiralled form and winged bowl

Sale update

Bob reported that the November sale and exhibition took £1118 over the 2 days, with £284 going to the club after expenses (£80 for the hall hire).
